PATA stands for Pacific Asia Travel Association. Founded in 1951, PATA is a not-for profit association that has been the leading voice and authority on travel and tourism in the Asia Pacific region. The Association is internationally acclaimed for acting as a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific region. PATA provides aligned advocacy, insightful research and innovative events to its member organisations.
The “CRC” is a digital resource that was launched by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in 2020 in response to our member’s urgent need for crisis leadership. The vision of the CRC is to lead, coordinate and sustain a comprehensive world-class digital resource for crisis response, management, and recovery for the Asia Pacific Travel Industry.
In the immediate term, we believe Asia Pacific will be the leading force of tourism’s global recovery from COVID-19, as both an inbound destination as well as robust source market.
The CRC provides action-oriented interactive multimedia content that is focused on crisis preparedness, management, and recovery for destinations and other tourism enterprises across the Asia Pacific.
Our core audience is destination management organisations, though the content is directly applicable to businesses of all types and sizes across the tourism supply chain.
The immediate-term focus of the CRC is on regional renewal from the fallout of COVID-19. For the time-being, all CRC content will therefore be focused on assisting with these efforts.
Eventually, as tourism’s renewal is more fully underway, the CRC will begin including more content for crisis preparation.
Tourism has enormous potential to help destinations achieve the SDGs. We therefore believe recovery must be tied to “building a better industry,” and therefore have designed all of our information and interventions to align with the SDGs and further prevent tourism from becoming a quick and dirty “diesel generator” to kickstart unsustainable economic activity.
